Children’s Rights

Children live with decisions made by adult-elected leaders, yet they have no say in choosing them.

These are proposals for children's rights:

  1. Independent Ethos — Develop your values, explain them, and change them as you learn.
  2. Understanding the Voting — A proposed way for children to show they understand the choices in an election.
  3. Voting and being elected — Vote, run for election, and do the real job if elected, at any age, with understanding checks for children.
  4. Keeping evidence — Save information about harm and report it without punishment.
  5. Community for children — Make friends and run online spaces without adults watching every conversation.
  6. Right to property — Own money, earn income, and control a bank account at any age.
  7. A jury of peers — Give children an equal part in deciding disputes involving children and adults.
  8. The freedom to travel — Travel independently, with help when wanted and fair ways to challenge restrictions.
  9. Sign contracts — Make clear agreements and ask for promises to be kept.
  10. Privacy — Keep personal things private and have somewhere safe to go.
